Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has been suspended for five matches after being found guilty of malicious foul play in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.

The incident occurred during the second half of the match when Edouard appeared to have intentionally tripped Aberdeen defender Connor McAlinden as he tried to clear the ball away from danger.

Referee Neil Swarbrick immediately stopped the game and gave both players yellow cards, but it was Edouard who received a further punishment. He was sent off and banned for five games by the Scottish Football Association (SFA).

Edouard's suspension will be backdated to the start of the season, meaning that he won't be available for Celtic's upcoming fixtures against Hibernian and Dundee United.

In addition to his ban, Edouard also faces a potential fine and a one-year ban from football.

This is not the first time that Edouard has been involved in controversy. In January 2019, he was given a three-match ban after headbutting a player during a match against St Mirren.

Despite these incidents, Edouard remains a key member of Celtic's squad and is expected to make a full recovery from his latest suspension.

It's important to note that football is a competitive sport and players must abide by the rules and regulations set out by the governing bodies. If a player breaches these rules, they can face serious consequences including fines, bans, and even legal action.

However, it's also important to remember that football is a team sport and everyone needs to work together towards a common goal. It's up to all parties involved to ensure that the sport is played in a fair and respectful manner.
