The Scottish Premier League side Hibernian has announced that it will call up two youth academy players for their upcoming matches due to multiple player injuries.
The club has revealed that both players, who have yet to be named, will make their debuts in the coming games.
In a statement released by the club, manager Neil Lennon said: "We're very disappointed with the number of injuries we've had over recent weeks and this is a difficult situation for us all.
"We're going to do everything we can to get our squad back to full strength as soon as possible but until then we'll have to rely on these young players."
Lennon added that he was pleased with the performances of his current squad, but admitted that there were concerns about the fitness levels of some of his players.
He said: "We're not short of talent at Hibernian but sometimes you need a bit of luck and we haven't been able to get that so far this season." The manager also praised the efforts of his players, saying that they had shown great character despite the challenges they faced.
"Everyone in the team has worked hard to improve their game and I'm confident that we'll be able to bounce back from this setback," he said.
The club's head of football operations, Craig Smith, also spoke out about the situation, saying: "We're sorry to see our players go through this but we're also proud of what they've achieved in the past few months.
"We're doing everything we can to help them recover and we hope to have them back on the pitch as soon as possible."
It remains to be seen how long the absence of the two youth academy players will last, but for now, Hibernian will have to rely on its other players to step up and fill the void.
Despite the setbacks, Lennon believes that his team will come together and work towards achieving their goals.
"We're a strong team and we know how to overcome adversity," he said. "I'm confident that we'll be able to turn things around and achieve success again soon."
